Excessive heat events (EHEs) are a public health threat because they increase the likelihood of adverse health outcomes and mortality rates in affected populations. EHEs can be accurately forecasted and their effects can be reduced. This guidebook provides critical information for public health officials and others to begin developing and implementing EHE notification and response programs.
