The Future of Hurricane Damage and Climate Change
Abt Global supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Change Division in conducting a meta-analysis of scientific and economics literature to understand the changing pattern of risks from extreme weather events. The analysis forecasts the impacts of climate change on future economic damages from hurricanes and wind storms.
The project involved reviewing relevant literature, developing a multi-model synthesis of the temperature-damage relationship, using the results to generate a probability distribution for future hurricane losses due to climate change. A manuscript with the results was published in the peer-reviewed journal Climatic Change in 2014.
