EvidenceNOW: Advancing Heart Health in Primary Care
EvidenceNOW, funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), is helping more than 1,500 small- and medium-sized primary care practices across the U.S. use the latest evidence to improve the heart health of millions of Americans.
EvidenceNOW will create a blueprint of how our nation can build a primary care system that delivers high-quality, patient-centered health care for everyone. The project aligns with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Million Hearts®, a national effort to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Abt Global – in partnership with Crosby Marketing and the MacColl Center for Healthcare Innovation – form a technical assistance center (TAC) supporting the regional cooperatives participating in EvidenceNOW. The TAC’s role is to develop and maintain a dynamic learning network through which cooperatives and a national evaluator could share best practices or successes with one another and problem-solve common challenges in implementing EvidenceNOW.
The TAC is responsible for:
- Fostering connections among the grantees promoting knowledge sharing by leading workgroups of staff with similar roles across grantees;
- Identifying experts who provided guidance or resources to grantees;
- Managing an online network of more than 200 users; and
- Coordinating one annual all-grantee in- person meeting.
The TAC hosts bi-monthly webinars and conducts annual site visits with the team. The TAC also develops internal and external communication about EvidenceNOW, including a monthly e-newsletter, short videos, infographics, and briefs about each grantee’s background, approach and, over time, findings from their interventions.
