Bomasang
Ellen Bomasang is a global development professional whose focus has been clean energy, climate, and inclusive growth across emerging economies in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Bomasang’s more than 25 years of experience have earned her recognition as a thought leader in clean energy and gender equality and social inclusion (GESI). She has led GESI-related interventions around the themes of women’s and girls’ leadership, male allyship, women’s economic empowerment, GBV prevention and response in energy/infrastructure projects, and building diverse, respectful workplaces.
Bomasang is focused on centering equity principles and practices within Abt's operations and across its project portfolio. She develops trainings, tools, and resources, particularly as these relate to GESI in the international development arena and supports the development and implementation of new organizational products, processes, and standards, serving as a thought leader on GESI, climate, and clean energy, across Abt’s portfolio.
Before joining Abt, Bomasang led GESI initiatives across various U.S. government-funded energy, climate and economic growth engagements in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. She also served in leadership roles at Deloitte Consulting and AECOM, providing strategic vision and direction to teams and overseeing the implementation of large, complex energy programs in the areas of energy access, energy sector reform and governance, finance, and sustainability for the U.S. government and other international donors.
Bomasang serves on the board of the Council for Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership and is a mentor under the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition.
