Military spouses play a critical role in supporting military service members. But few studies have assessed demographic factors associated with spouse experiences and perceived support. Abt used data from the Millennium Cohort Family Study to examine understudied subgroups of military spouses. Reserve/National Guard spouses reported less military stress than those with active duty partners, and spouses of officers reported less military stress than spouses of enlisted service members. Dual-military couples reported less stress and more support from the military compared with spouses who haven’t served.
