The DOL-funded Clearinghouse for Labor Evaluation and Research (CLEAR) has several goals. It makes research on labor topics more accessible to practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and the public. It also provides information to inform decisions about labor policies and programs. Reviews, summaries, and syntheses of many types of labor research, including descriptive, implementation, and impact studies are available through the CLEAR website.
Abt works with DOL to expand its evidence clearinghouse under the CLEAR Advancement, Reviews, Innovations, and Synthesis of Evidence (ARISE) project. Abt reviews studies, synthesizes evidence, and disseminates through CLEAR’s website evidence-based insights about effective interventions. As part of that work, Abt conducts systematic annual searches and reviews to ensure CLEAR includes up-to-date literature on topics of interest to CLEAR audiences, regardless of the size of the evidence base. Abt also manages the website that hosts CLEAR’s resources.
We also engage audiences through a variety of means to raise awareness of CLEAR’s resources and help them understand how to use those resources in their program, policy, and research work.
Abt is producing in-depth reviews of studies and preparing syntheses of findings in labor-related topic areas, including workplace health and safety, substance use disorder, and paid and unpaid workplace leave. The results will be on the CLEAR website.
Abt is managing and enhancing the website and developing products to increase targeted audiences’ use of CLEAR resources. We’re developing tools and resources, such as webinars, desk references, and videos to provide information to CLEAR users about the materials available on the CLEAR website, the CLEAR review process and ratings, and how to use CLEAR to inform decision making.
