2023 International Emissions Inventory Conference

Abt Global experts will participate in the 2023 International Emissions Inventory Conference. The biennial conference, hosted by EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards Emissions Inventory and Analysis Group, brings together state, local and tribal air agencies, regional organizations, EPA offices, researchers, and students.

The theme for this year’s conference is the “Nexus of Climate, Air Quality, and Health: Smoke and Other Emissions Challenges.”

Consumption-Based Emissions Rates for eGRID

The Emissions & Generation Resource Integrated Database (eGRID), the preeminent source of emissions data for the electric power sector, is a comprehensive source of data on the environmental characteristics of almost all electric power generated in the U.S. eGRID is based on available plant-specific data for all U.S. electricity generating plants that provide power to the electric grid and report data to the U.S. government. eGRID calculates emissions rates associated with the production of electricity by a generator, unit, or plant, as well as for plants located in various regional aggregations.

Training on Nonpoint Best Practices

This course will demonstrate how to fill out input templates for the Wagon Wheel tool and run the tool to generate nonpoint emissions for the National Emissions Inventory (NEI). The course will have a special focus on filling out point source templates for industrial and commercial/institutional (ICI) fuel combustion sources. At the end of the course, State, Local, and Tribal air agencies should understand how to fill out the input templates, load them into the tool, and view resulting emissions.
